I’ve had my iPhone for just over a year. I started with a simple silicone cover but found that I couldn’t get the phone in and out of my pocket. So I switched to a hardshell case. That case has finally worn out and I decided to try this one (my husband loves his Otterbox Defender).

My primary requirements are 1) that it go in and out of my pocket easily. and 2) that it protect my phone which sees it’s fair share of drops (which of course I completely blame on my 2 and 5 year olds both of whom love to play games on my phone. haha.)

This case is just about as perfect as I could ask for. The screen protector went on effortlessly, the case feels solid and I think it has done a great job of protecting my phone…and absolutely NO issues getting it in and out of my back pocket.

    Thank you Otterbox!

Easy to install, adequate protection, and functional. All buttons are easy to access/use. Good covers for iPhone openings. Can be difficult to install the charger/sync cord (you need to hold the cover away from the opening). Nice looking case that is a pleasure to hold in your hand. Good case appearance. Screen protector comes with the case and is one of the best I’ve seen to date.

I do not like my cases too squishy or wiggly (as silicone sometimes is,) nor do I like them bulky. I got this Otterbox to replace an Incase slider which was sparkly-silver and pretty, but so slippery that I felt like I was trying to grip soap. It works well. The silicone portion is snug, but gives traction, and the snap on portion fits with pleasing flushness. A minor quibble is that the lower edge is pushing at bit at the screen protector, preventing the screen protector from completely adhering along the bottom, but that’s because I put the screen protector on first, and did not center it top to bottom perfectly.

I did a TON of research and reading reviews before ordering the The Otterbox Commuter. I have had it for a month and LOVE it. Best combo of a hard case and a silicone case.

Pros: nice secure port covers, protective silicone(I have dropped the phone a couple times with no problems) nice clear plastic on the back for easy sliding in and out of pockets and purses. The plastic is a matte finish and not cheapy or slippery. The silicone has very soft smooth feel and is not sticky.

Cons: The sides are a little flexible around the left and right edges of the I-phone. A little dirt can get under the cover. This is not a deal breaker for me. Also the charging port cover prevents a good connection when using a speaker docking station, which is a bit annoying. I had to take it out of the case to dock. The blue is definitely a bright royal blue (not as purpley as in shown online) which may not be for everyone, but I love it.

Overall, high quality case worth the extra money.

I do like the OtterBox Commuter TL case. The only thing I don’t like is the clear plastic piece that goes on back because it makes it slick. I will probably get the larger case later on.
